Akbank Case Study
Akbank is a publicly traded bank with total assets valued at over 44 billion dollars. The Akbank Team wanted to turn the needle of employee sentiment in a positive direction and nurture social wellbeing among its 700+ branches. Wellbees and Akbank came together for a wellbeing project that earned Akbank a Bronze Stevie, which triggered personal and cultural behaviour across the company in measurable statistics, as seen in this case study.
The Akbank and Wellbees teams came together to identify several pressing needs and influencing conditions present within the company. Together we found that employee engagement scores were not at the aspired level and that hosting occasional webinars was not moving the needle in improving overall mood and wellbeing among employees. Also, because Akbank's workforce is distributed across 700+ branches, employees rarely had the chance to meet one another and build meaningful connections between departments. Moreover, because employees continued to work in-person throughout the pandemic, when there were positive COVID cases among the branch staff, the workload increased among the remaining staff leading to increased stress, burnout, and anxiety. Finally, Akbank was looking for an employee wellbeing solution that would allow it to more easily orient and welcome new hires and encourage them to connect with their new colleagues through mutual interests, in an organic way.
